Don't Cook This Thanksgiving! 2021

First and foremost, after the past couple of years, let's take a moment and give thanks for making it this far. No small feat!

So here comes Thanksgiving 2021! My advice: don't cook! First of all the supply chain is jacked up beyond belief. This NY Times article talks about even if you can get supplies they will crush your wallet! Might as well pay a REAL chef to do all the heavy lifting!

Then there is just the stress of DIY. Don't get me wrong--I love the Thanksgiving meal as much as anyone. It's a joyous union of about 8 of my favorite comfort foods all at the same table. Turkey, stuffing--all of it comes together in one of the most delicious and nostalgic flavor profiles of the year. But the 8-10 hours (shopping, cooking, and dishes) never seem worth it for the 30-45 minutes of gorging on the meal (and then the glorious tryptophan nap). And in a year where Thanksgiving needs to hit it out of the park, I make an especially impassioned annual pitch for you to leave it to the pros!

Below is a list of take-out options that will create gastronomic joy and render stress obsolete. And if you are looking to eat out, Open Table is a good place to see who is offering dine-in and what safety protocols they are implementing. Either way, leave the cooking and cleaning to the experts, be safe and enjoy!
