Craving a little Far East in your life? Snap Thai Fish House can relieve some of that ATL land-locked feeling with new and exciting
interpretations of Thai cuisine.
Snap Thai opens in the suddenly buzzy Modera Prominence at the corner of
Lenox and Piedmont in Buckhead (Lebanese newcomer Zakia is also making waves
there as well) and comes from the Atlanta restaurant veterans who also operate
Bangkok Thai in Ansley Park, one of the oldest Thai restaurants in the city
dating back to 1977.
Enter amidst the tall buildings of this
mini-metropolis and you're greeted by a massive hanging sculpture/mobile that
looks like an enormous school of minnows swirling into a fish tornado above
reception. The
space feels high-design and coastal-themed including some custom-made
fish traps worked into the design. It's both elegant and
sophisticated and features an indoor-outdoor bar that opens up to a patio when
the weather cooperates.
The cuisine zeros in on fresh seafood,
including cold water lobster (in fact there's a whole section of the menu
dedicated to the lobster including a Thai lobster roll, lobster pad
Thai, and a lobster burger made with lobster and wagyu brisket), fresh oysters, sea urchin (when in season) and almost a
dozen different wild-caught fish (with emphasis on sustainability) delivered
daily from renowned Thai suppliers. Native Thai Chef Pattie Lawlertratana does not
spare the aesthetic wow factor to her dishes; each is its own Instagram-worthy
#tooprettytoeat masterpiece and as much fun to ogle at as to devour.
There
are other influences from local Atlanta Thai legends like Nan Thai Fine Dining and
Tamarind Seed, especially in Snap's wine and cocktail program which features champagnes,
rosés, and sparkling wines, more than 80 bottles of wine, cocktails made with
Thai ingredients like coconut, lime and lychee, and pineapple, as well as a
sizable scotch and whisky selection.
