Don't Cook This Thanksgiving! 2020 Pandemic Version

First and foremost, let's take a moment and give thanks for making this far into 2020. No small feat!

Second, please be careful this year and have a plan whether or not you cook at home, carry out or dine in somewhere. Here is the CDC's recommendation for Thanksgiving 2020 at home! Folks are so stressed about Thanksgiving going well that Whole Foods even is offering turkey insurance!

My advice: don't cook! Don't get me wrong--I love the Thanksgiving meal as much as anyone. It's a joyous union of about 8 of my favorite comfort foods all at the same table. Turkey, stuffing--all of it comes together in one of the most delicious and nostalgic flavor profiles of the year. But the 8-10 hours (shopping, cooking, and dishes) never seem worth it for the 30-45 minutes of gorging on the meal (and then the glorious tryptophan nap). And in a year where Thanksgiving needs to hit it out of the park, I make an especially impassioned annual pitch for you to leave it to the pros!

Below is a list of take-out options that will create gastronomic joy and render stress obsolete. And if you are looking to eat out, Open Table is a good place to see who is offering dine-in and what safety protocols they are taking. Either way, leave the cooking and cleaning to the experts, be safe and enjoy!
